Abstract

In the context of Viet Nam’s participation in new-generation free tradeagreements (FTAs), the effective implementation of commitments on trade andsustainable development has become a decisive factor for ensuring deep andsustainable international integration. These commitments are operationalised throughthree principal mechanisms—cooperation, monitoring, and dispute settlement—withmultiple innovations in institutional design, transparency, stakeholder participation,and enforcement modalities. This article analyses the features and operation of thesemechanisms and compares them with implementation practice under Viet Nam’s newgeneration FTAs. Building on the orientations reflected in Politburo Resolution No 59-NQ/TW and Resolution No 66-NQ/TW, it proposes directions for strengthening the useof these mechanisms so as to optimise implementation effectiveness.Keywords: Implementation mechanisms; cooperation; monitoring/oversight;dispute settlement; Resolution No 59-NQ/TW; Resolution No 66-NQ/TW.
